After disappearing from the world map (1717-1918), followed by a few years of independence, then being dominated by the Nazi reign of terror for 6 years (1939-1945) and finally after being subject to 45 years of Communist totalitarian regime (1945-1989), Poland is one of the European nations which has suffered the most over history. Today, the Polish nation casting off the shackles of the past; indeed, the country has room for modernity, colours, and a warm atmosphere, and it has even become one of the most attractive destinations in Europe!

Wroclaw, “The Venice of Poland”
Nowadays, we often hear about Warsaw or Krakow – these are the two most popular cities in Poland. However:  what is special about Wroclaw?  Although the city is less well-known among tourists, you may in fact be pleasantly surprised by Wroclaw, the fourth largest city in Poland after Warsaw, Krakow, and Lodz. A student city, both dynamic and beautiful, Wroclaw is also called “ The Venice of Poland”. Where did it get this name from? The answer to this question most certainly lies in the 120 bridges over the Oder river and its many canals.
